One of my most vivid memories of childhood is my grandmother knocking at my bedroom door at 4 am in the morning ordering me to put off the light and go to sleep. Of course, as usual, I was reading.....probably an Enid Blyton book, she was my favourite author when I was young. My love of reading has continued to this day, although now I usually stop reading before midnight. Today my favourite author is Jack Higgins, I think that I have read almost everything that he has written, including books he has written under various pen-names. I will also read anything written by Roddy Doyle, Lee Dunne and Frederick Forsythe. I like espionage and suspense novels, books that have humourous content and I will also read books about real life adventure such as climbing expeditions, distance sailing, and although difficult to class as an adventure....the Vietnam war. My tastes in reading material is like everything that I like to do, varied and diverse. In the last few years I find that although I continue to read a lot, it is usually magazines, newspapers, internet newsgroups and Compuserve forums. I find that I am not reading many novels any more......time just tends to slip away.
